Lawan Bako’s take home message concerning the Major National Dialogue resolutions

“The take home message is simple; the 8 commissions didn’t a wonderful job because they were talking from the hearts and minds of the people and the aspirations of the people. Regrettably the Raporteur general failed to highlight the important issues that arose during the commission reports.

For example, yesterday in came out clearly that commission number 1, cultural diversity and living together state it clearly that the name of the country doesn’t reflect the historical or biological facts of the country so the country should be renamed united republic of Cameroon.

So now he says his component to his highlight but he was supposed to have highlighted important thing that the public will take home not go into polemics and say that does not touch the present grassroots.

You cannot be highlighting decentralization knowing full well that before those children went into the bushes the was decentralization more way on the other so he odd to have done that and then when you highlight only what you call special status with the Anglophones in accordance with article 62 but it was there in the constitution.

But the truth is about it is that you odd to have put in the ingredients in that status, where as we had proposed that which they read yesterday and had a standing ovation from the participant that a quarter should be given to the Anglophones which means that the people of the north west and south west either is 20% or 30%, so that they will now know that this is our own quarter in appointment, in recruitment and development projects that one is something that touches the grassroots. But yet this one was not highlighted in the general report.

The third one which came out yesterday and received heavy applause was that no francophone will be appointed for Anglophone. Many francophone’s who have grown up in the North West and south west, learn the English and turn to be Anglophones once they are appointed they go back to their area like it happened to the former man who was the deputy director of CRTV.

So when you say like that and people applauded but you failed to highlight them then something is wrong with you. So I am here appealing to the head of state to go into the in-depth of the commission report not the General Raporteur reports and from there you can see possible things there to make people happy because you don’t just go and sit in the radio and announce that people should lay down their arms. ”
