Ernest Obama spends First Night at SED

Contrary to a rumor spread on social media he was released, the journalist remains in police custody.

Journalist Dieudonné Ernest Obama Nana spent his first night in police custody at the Defense State Secretariat (SED) in the Melen in Yaounde 3 Subdivision.

According to information, he will appear this Friday, June 19, 2020 before a judge.

A step that could lead to provisional detention of Obama in Kondengui.

The former Director General of the private channel Vision 4 was arrested Thursday June 18, by gendarmes at the headquarters of television based in the Nsam, in the same Yaoundé 3 Subdivision.

The owner of Vision 4 and businessman Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga accuses him of embezzlement, high treason, breach of trust, among others.

Our informant indicates that Mr. Obama was presented to a judge Thursday for his release.

However, the proceedings allegedly stumbled over the fact that the complainant had not lodged a formal complaint.

The journalist was therefore sent back to SED where he spent the night. He was therefore not released as it was reported on social networks.
