Teachers to Boycott June 1st School Resumption if Certain Conditions are not in Place

This is apparent from the document below. 19 Cameroon teachers syndicates including TAC and CATTU have declared that they will boycott the resumption of classes on June 1, 2020 if the conditions below are not met by the government

1) to organize exams on the basis of up-to-date coverage of school programs;

2) stagger the resumption of classes if necessary, starting in secondary school with the terminales to avoid congestion on campuses;

3) ensure the free availability of hydro-alcoholic masks and gels for all students and teachers on all school campuses;

4) limit the number of students to a maximum of 24 / class;

5) to ensure the daily and meticulous disinfection of school campuses;

6) to provide special bonuses for teachers for the work overload and the risk imposed by the new context;

7) to make available to secondary schools the remainder of the fees payable which have not yet been released;

8) to equip all examination centers with funds to fight Covid-19 to enable them to respond to any health emergencies that may arise during the examinations for the 2020 session.

“The health of teachers, millions of students, and their parents seems priceless. The unions will mobilize teachers if they need to defend themselves if clear measures are not taken to ensure their protected return to school campuses, “says the spokesman for the Cameroon Teachers’ Unions.
