This is how several Cameroonians are between life and death in Dubai

Left for a few days for business and tourism, we Cameroonians find ourselves more than a month stranded in Dubai.

02 weeks after registering at the Cameroonian Consulate, the Consul General summoned us to give us each 300dhs ( 50 000 F CFA) for basic necessities. He also told us that negotiations were taking place with the airlines that fly the Cameroon line and that he already had the agreement of the Emirates government for our repatriation..

Only a month has passed and there is no continuation of this negotiation nor even a probable date on which we can hang all our hopes.

Some of us sink into depression because confined in the rooms with no way to relax because the police ensure strict compliance with this confinement observed at the UAE.

Others have already lost weight due to poor food because all restaurants are closed.

Others for lack of means are expelled from hotels and end up on the street.

Several hotels have closed due to lack of customers as there is no activity at the moment in Dubai. All shops and businesses are closed except some pharmacy and supermarkets.

We only survive.

The Emirates company organizes these days free flights to repatriate certain foreigners to their territory but the destination of Cameroon is not one of them..

Our last resort remains the action of our CAMEROON AUTHORITIES which we implore by inviting them to a little sensitivity towards us who only ask to return to our country and find our families so that an urgent solution is found to repatriate us so to avoid that there are no other victims because we already have a case of death.

It is true that we are short of financial means but if it is necessary that we contribute to the purchase of our return ticket, our families would be ready to support us.
