I am saddened by the news of the demise of Honorable Joseph Mbah Ndam, whom I’ve known for decades. He even trained at the Muna, Muna & Associates Law Chambers, to become a lawyer.
Soon after that, he entered politics as one of the earliest members of the SDF. As a matter of fact, we drafted the statutes of the SDF, together with Barrister Ngale Monono and Dr. Carlson Anyangwe, and presented it to the constitutive assembly of the SDF Party at the Bamenda Church Center.
He later on entered parliament and we were always in touch. During my tenure as President of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the African Union, we often met at the Pan African Parliament in South Africa, of which he was a member.
I will remember Joseph as a hard worker, good researcher, and a man with a purpose. Those of us who knew him will miss him greatly and I am sure his departure is a huge amputation for his political party. The Cameroon Bar Association has been very strongly hit these past months and this must cause all of us to think seriously about how we would like to be remembered.
We offer out prayers to his family and those close to him, so they might find the strength to carry on.
To his final resting place he has gone, this is a destiny that spares none.
Go gently, Joe, my brother, and rest in perfect peace.
