Construction of Paul Biya Stadium- Italian Company Issues 72 Hour Ultimatum to Sports Minister to Reverse Decision Canceling Contract

The Italian Company Group Piccini has hit back at Cameroon’s minister of sport who yesterday withdrew her contract to construct the Paul Biya Stadium in Olembe – Yaounde. Barely hours after the minister’s communique announcing his decision, Puiccini has warned that should the minister not withdraw same, she would would take action including at international level.
Meanwhile, the minister had gone further to award the contract to a Canadian company Margil.

The minister in his communique had reiterated the fact that the Italian company failed to meet up with its commitments.




In the official press releases, The Piccini group says the minister’s decision is an administrative act that can be challenge. She would thus act to protect her interest both at the national and international level.

The Construction of the Olembe stadium or Stade Paul Biya in yaounde by the Italian Company Piccini is now history. The construction works had been out in hold for over a year. Piccini had failed to deliver the project despite the assistance and pressure from the State to respect the dateline. The company even benefitted several extensions of the time limits.

Cameroon was stripped of her AFCON hosting rights back in 2018 for failing to make significant progress in completing the infrastructure.
