Wum: Ex-Amba Fighter – Alive Yesterday, Dead Today – Woman, Infant Attacked

A man who just yesterday claimed he was an ex-Amba fighter is no longer alive. Polycarp Ikom surrendered himself publicly during the installation of the newly appointed SDO of Wum, at the Grand Stand.

He received handshakes from the military commanders who assured him of safety. Clearly, they failed him when he most needed protection.

Not even the coordinator of the coordinator of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Rehabilitation Centre (DDR) who also shook hands with him could ensure his smooth transition to his facility in Bamenda?

Truth is, the authorities, even the North West Governor encouraged him to go along with them to the DDR in Bamenda but he adamantly refused.

According to him, he did not want to traumatize his mother who would rather think that his departure from Wum would mean death.

The Fulani Twist

In Wum, people think they know who killed the man. Signs started emerging yesterday about Polycarp’s eventual demise even as he was still seated at the Wum Grand.

Some Fulanis who sat in the back rows at the grand stand were heard saying. albeit mutedly, “Polycarp, that is your end. You will not live.”

Elsewhere, other Fulanis promised hell on the said ex-fighter as evidenced on social media platforms yesterday. (See screenshot below).

Nevertheless, many people initially thought the killing could have been a retributive act by other active Amba fighters. Now they having second thoughts. TheVoice is investigating.

Polycarp lived in an isolated environment in Mua’Kwo and insisted to go to his home yesterday, despite strong advice from to her locals who tried in vain to dissuade him.

He was reportedly extracted from a nearby house and killed on the road. The images are too graphic and have been blurred for viewer convenience.

He was not the only victim. The Voice has gathered that three year old child was badly injured when his attackers whipped him with a stick.

A lady neighbour who survived the attack was kicked in the leg.

Meanwhile, Polycarp was found today, gravely mutilated.
