Our beloved head of state is back home. He flew into the country with first lady Chantal Biya Last Saturday evening.
The news is also that the presidential couple returned to the country promptly (unlike previously when they would go abroad for an official visit and then disappear from the radar for several weeks).
Well, as Mr. president and wife returned, the normal happened. Parts of central Yaounde were paralysed.
Cars were grounded for so long on the same spot, at road junctions, waiting for the presidential Motorcade to cruise pass.
The interesting twist is that the French president who hosted Paul and Chantal in Paris had a different type of welcome when he went visiting the Dutch prime minster.
Both men were spotted on bicycles riding though town, savouring the landscape and township facilities They conversed, joked and laughed as they rode around for quite a long time.
Notice how other riders are overtaking the president and his host. Life does not come to a halt because a visiting president is in town.
Business did not shutdown. Snippers did not mount buildings. Gorrilars did not intimidate pedestriants and force them to stand motionless for so long.
Instead, people stop, or slow down to take pictures. They smile, move on, minding their Own business.
In Yaounde? “You shake, I Shoot!” Raise your cell phone or camera. Just try it. You will tell your horror story later.
