The US Embassy condemns the horrible aggression, murder and beheading of a prison officer and mother of three children in late September in the North West region of Cameroon.
We send our most sincere condolences to his family. We urge the authorities to conduct a thorough and balanced inquiry into this atrocity and others, and to bring the perpetrators to justice in a fair and transparent trial.
More violence is not the solution. We call on all parties to the conflict in the north-west and south-west regions to renounce further violence and open dialogue without preconditions.
