Court Nails Anglophone Prisoners Again

The Ekounou court of first instance presided by Justice Ndema has sentenced several Anglophone detainees who staged a prison protest that went wrong recently in Kondengu Yaounde.

They were slammed two jail terms for collective resistance. Eleven anglophones were however acquitted of the offences of Destruction, Attempt to Escape, Theft and Slight harm. They are:

  1. Thomas Awah
  2. Babila Venant
  3. Ngalim Felix
  4. Penn Terrence
  5. Mancho Bibixy
  6. Fuh Luther Che
  7. Jones Njilah Tantoh
  8. Abang Ramsey
  9. Itoe Henry
  10. Wirbah Didymus
  11. Oben Franklin Tabot

The judge nevertheless convicted all of them including the MRC first vice president and other three MRC militants for the offence of Collective Resistance and sentenced all of them to two years imprisonment term except Babila Venant and one other MRC militant who were slammed three years imprisonment term.

Meanwhile, only five (all MRC militants) out of the 20 accused persons were discharged and acquitted of all the offences. No anglophone detainee was discharged and acquitted of all the five offences.
